Raintree is changing the way Canadians think about investing their money.
The inclusion of alternative investments creates portfolio diversification which can strengthen performance and reduce risk.
Our team at Raintree has witnessed a fundamental shift in investment behaviour over the last twenty years. We help clients reduce their exposure to the daily noise that the markets spew, by bringing them to a place where investing has become more intelligent, diversified, alternative and private. We offer a broad spectrum of investments that can meet the requirements of individuals, families and institutions. Our Private Wealth Advisors identify the unique vision of each of our clients and build a strategy tailored just for them.
OUR WAY *
- Alternative Investments
- Portfolio Management
We know that no two investments are alike – some are more risky and others are more conservative. The very basis of our existence is to take advantage of investments in the private market that are positioned for each of our clients’ requirements. While moving away from traditional stocks, bonds and mutual funds, we’ve been able to capitalize on investments that are more insulated from global events that may have little direct effect on business here in North America.
* Allocations are illustrative and should not be considered a recommendation. Please speak with one of our Private Wealth Advisors to find out what is most suitable for you.
We provide Canadians with the opportunity to achieve great financial success.
Our philosophy is based on providing a range of alternative investments that support local economies, companies, employees and growth by offering an alternative choice. All too often, investors are getting “check the box advice” and bank retailed products that can have high fees with little in the way of real strategy or out-performance.
We know traditional stocks and bonds are an important part of a well-diversified portfolio. However, many of our clients have indicated that they are frustrated by the watered-down experience they receive from their “balanced” traditional investments. We have responded to this by providing access to a number of portfolio managers that have unique investment strategies for clients to achieve a potentially better traditional portfolio outcome.
We believe that all too often in today’s financial industry, advice for clients is tainted by conflicts of interest. How can anyone use their investment as a proactive strategy when they’re forced to invest within a set of pre-specified boundaries managed by the very institutions that benefit the most?
At Raintree, all of the investments we represent are third party and have been hand picked and individually vetted through an extensive due diligence process. We are unencumbered by the conflicts of interest inherent in many of today’s large financial organizations.
With a collection of only the very best investment opportunities in private funds, we are able to fine tune portfolios for each of our clients with them— to their unique vision for prosperity.
Imagine buying a car and only having three options: a truck, a car or a minivan. Now imagine that they only come in one colour – as Henry Ford said about the original Model T in 1909, “you can have any colour as long as it is black”. This would turn an exciting purchase into a very dull and unfulfilling experience. Unfortunately, this is how we perceive the old 60/40 (stocks/bonds) balanced portfolio model. It might fit some clients, but today there are many other options available.
We operate by making recommendations about private investments from the ground up, tailored specifically for each client’s needs and future.
Why Invest in Private Companies?
Limiting event driven portfolio exposure, seeking higher expected returns and to reduce overall portfolio correlation are just some of the reasons why clients should consider private investments. All of these can be potential benefits of investing in private or alternative investments, but they may not be of every investment. Every client must work with one of our Private Wealth Advisors prior to making an investment in order to fully understand the risks inherent in making these investments. They are trained in assisting in this evaluation process and are licensed Dealing Representatives with the securities commission in their operating jurisdiction.
Information and education are fundamental to our organizational values. Our Resource Centre was built to provide everyone, including investors and the investment funds we represent, with access to our selection of marketing materials and questions and answers.
Raintree’s independence ensures that we will strive to make available the best private investments to everyone — prosperity for everyone.
Stay up-to-date on the dynamic landscape of the private capital markets with the latest product releases, updates and industry news.

Exempt market investments are not guaranteed and are not covered by the Canada Deposit Insurance Corporation or by any other government deposit insurer. Investment products sold in the exempt market are considered high risk because:
- They are not covered by deposit or investor protection insurance;
- Regulators do not review the offering memorandum for completeness;
- Issuers of exempt products are not subject to the same ongoing disclosure obligations as public issuers;
- Many exempt products are not as liquid as publicly-traded securities;
- Exempt products are often subject to a greater degree of “key person” risk than more widely held securities;
- Investors purchase pursuant to an exemption because the regulators feel they do not need many of the usual protections accorded to investors in publicly-traded securities;
- There may be risks other than those listed above related to the individual product being purchased and investors are expected by Raintree Financial Solutions to make all necessary inquiries of their Private Wealth Advisor.
There can be no assurances that the investment will be able to maintain its net acquisition value or to produce projected income. Investment values change frequently and past performance may not be repeated.
Using borrowed money to finance the purchase of securities involves greater risk than a purchase using cash resources only. If you borrow money to purchase securities, your responsibility to repay the loan and pay interest as required by its terms remains the same if the value of the securities purchased declines.
